The Minnesota Wild made a pair of roster recalls on Tuesday, bringing up forward Hunter Haight and defenseman Carson Lambos from the Iowa Wild while placing Jared Spurgeon on Injured Reserve.
General Manager Bill Guerin announced the move, which opens a short-term NHL opportunity for two players who were already in the organization’s development pipeline. With Spurgeon unavailable, the Wild needed an immediate depth answer on the roster.
What Haight and Lambos have done in Iowa
Haight, 22, has been one of Iowa’s most productive players this season. He led the club in goals and plus/minus rating while ranking second on the team in points with 3-2=5, along with four penalty minutes and a plus-four rating in six games. He has also taken eight shots on goal. Haight was Minnesota’s second-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, going No. 47 overall, and he has already gotten a taste of the NHL after making his debut on Oct. 9, 2025 at St. Louis. He also appeared in seven games with Minnesota last season and had one assist.
Lambos, 23, has also put together a steady start in Iowa. He has two points on 1-1=2 with five penalty minutes and 15 shots on goal in six games, and he ranked second on the team in shots. The first-round pick from the 2021 NHL Draft, taken No. 26 overall, made his NHL debut on Dec. 18, 2025 at Columbus. In that game, he recorded a plus-1 rating, one shot on goal and one blocked shot in 10:16 of ice time.
What it means for Minnesota
The recalls give the Wild another look at two young players who have already moved through the organization’s system and earned attention at the AHL level. Haight’s scoring production in Iowa and Lambos’ all-around work on the blue line show why both were logical options when a roster spot opened.
The timing also matters because Minnesota is scheduled to host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at 7:05 p.m. With Spurgeon on Injured Reserve, the Wild will need to adjust quickly and lean on its depth to cover the opening. For Haight and Lambos, it is another chance to show they can handle NHL minutes when called upon.
