Subway is moving National Sandwich Day to Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Jeff Klein said the chain is giving sandwiches their own day in the spotlight one week early. The company is also bringing back the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub and a Caramel Apple Cookie for the promotion.
Klein, Subway’s chief marketing officer, said, “We weren't going to let National Sandwich Day become an afterthought,” and added, “Especially with the Fritos® Chicken Enchilada Sub making a comeback that our fans and franchisees have been asking for. So, we're giving sandwiches their own day in the spotlight, one week early. Consider this permission to listen to your SUBconscious. Apparently, it's been asking for Fritos.”
Jeff Klein and the return
The Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub includes rotisserie-style chicken marinated in enchilada sauce, Fritos corn chips, smoky Baja Chipotle sauce, Monterey Cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and red onions. Paul Fabre, Subway’s senior vice president of culinary innovation, said, “The enchilada sauce brings depth, the chipotle adds a little heat and the Fritos® deliver that signature crunch.”
Subway is also bringing back the Caramel Apple Cookie. Fabre said, “The apple and salted caramel offer a sweet finish that tastes like fall.”
The company tied the change to midterm Election Day, saying Tuesday, Nov. 3 is one week after the new celebration date and still the day some people will mark National Sandwich Day on the original calendar date. For those customers, Subway said the returning sandwich, the cookie and the offer will still be available.
Sub Club in the Subway app
Sub Club members will get a Footlong BOGO offer automatically added to their wallets in the Subway app. The deal is for current and new members, and it works at participating U.S. restaurants on Subway app or online orders only.
The offer gives a free Footlong sub of equal or lesser price and excludes Fresh Fit, 5 Meat Italian and Big Hot Pastrami. Subway said the offer will be available for a limited time, which makes the timing the key part for anyone planning to use it around the holiday window.
That timing also sets up the practical choice for customers: celebrate on Oct. 27 for the early promotion, or wait for Nov. 3 and still find the returning items and the BOGO offer in play. The same promotion window makes the app the place to check before ordering, rather than assuming the deals will appear in stores without the app-based setup.
Subway’s fall push
The move follows Subway’s Feed Your SUBconscious brand platform, which launched in September and features actor and comedian Will Arnett as the inner voice steering customers toward a freshly prepared meal at Subway. The new National Sandwich Day date now sits inside that broader push, with product return and app-only ordering folded into one promotion.
A separate Subway store damage report showed the chain name can appear in very different headlines, but this one is about a calendar shift and a menu return. For customers, the main takeaway is simple: Oct. 27 is the early date, and Nov. 3 is still part of the same offer cycle.
