Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness season 3 finale viewership records climbed to 9.7 million viewers in its first seven days on Paramount+, giving the finale the biggest audience in the series’ run. The episode also landed as the fifth-most-watched Paramount+ original finale, a rare level of streaming reach for a show that had already been growing through Season 3.
Zoe Saldaña and Joe McNamara
Zoe Saldaña leads a season built around Joe McNamara, whose arc this year forced the character to navigate an abduction and the collapse of her home life. That pressure helped give the finale a sharper payoff than a routine end-of-season drop, and the numbers show viewers stayed with it long enough to push Lioness into a new tier on Paramount+.
Season 3 averaged 8.5 million viewers per week, which was a 62% increase over Season 2’s weekly average two years ago. That kind of jump matters on streaming because it suggests the audience did not just sample the series once and leave; it held across the season and then surged again at the finish.
Paramount+ records and renewal
The finale’s 9.7 million viewers in seven days made it the most-watched episode in the series’ history, and it also placed among the five biggest finales ever for a Paramount+ original show. For Taylor Sheridan, that is the cleanest evidence yet that Lioness has become one of the platform’s more reliable performers, even before factoring in the first three seasons now available on Paramount+.
That momentum has not yet resolved the show’s future. Lioness was still not confirmed for a fourth season as of writing, even after Season 3 set a new benchmark and closed with a record finish. The result is a strong business case, but not a green light; for now, the franchise’s biggest episode is also the one that leaves the next move open.
