Prime Video unveiled The Rings of Power season 3 with a trailer that starts seven years after Season 2. The first footage pushes the story into the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, giving fans of The Rings of Power a clearer read on where the conflict is heading.
Sauron in Mordor
The trailer opens with a pan over Mordor, then cuts to Sauron saying, "I see the path to victory so certain," before adding, "I will take my place as the conqueror, a sorcerer, a king." Charlie Vickers plays Sauron, and the footage surrounds him with an army of Ring-servants.
That setup matters because the season is being framed as a campaign, not a loose collection of separate character arcs. The trailer keeps returning to Sauron’s push for control of Middle-earth, and the scale of the fight is now visible before the season has even arrived.
Galadriel and Celeborn
Galadriel rides straight into a scuffle with Khamûl the Easterling, then gets knocked off her horse after he throws one of her soldiers at her. Morfydd Clark plays Galadriel, and the trailer uses her loss of control to show how quickly the battlefield can tilt.
The footage also brings Celeborn back into the story with a pointed line: "Is there something you fear to tell me?" Galadriel and Celeborn were separated for unknown reasons, and the trailer turns that fracture into a separate pressure point beside the war itself.
Elven and dwarf fears
Ereinion Gil-galad tells the Elven council, "The enemy has twice our number," which is the trailer’s bluntest measure of the imbalance ahead. Benjamin Walker plays Ereinion Gil-galad, and the line makes the Elven side’s position look defensive even before the first battle lands.
Gandalf answers with a steadier note — "Together, I know we can turn the tide" — while he continues grappling with his identity as a wizard and keeps crossing paths with a Dark Wizard. Prince Durin is then asked, "How are we supposed to fight the Dark Lord on our own?" and Elendil appears ready to enter battle against Sauron’s forces, which keeps the war from narrowing to a single front.
What the trailer does not give is a release date, so the useful takeaway is the shape of Season 3 rather than the calendar. It is a seven-years-later reset, and the new setup points to a larger and more organized war than the one Season 2 left behind.
