Hannah Gosselin said on October 21 that she is stepping back from the family situation and will not comment further on Collin Gosselin’s behavior growing up. Her statement narrows the public fight to one clear point: she says she has not spoken to him in close to a year, even as the dispute keeps spilling into TV and a memoir.
October 21 statement
“I've decided to take a step back from the situation going on considering I haven't lived with my dad in over a year and haven't spoke[n] to Collin in close to a year,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. She added, “Having said that, I have had a relationship with my mom and other siblings for quite a few years now. And that's the only thing I'm clearing up.”
She also drew a line around the scope of her comment, limiting it to “Collin's behavior growing up or my experiences growing up with him.” That framing matters because it separates her own account from the wider family fight and leaves the rest of the allegations untouched.
Collin Gosselin on TV
Collin, 22 years old, answered on October 22 on The View and pushed back on the way Hannah described the distance between them. “That statement sounded like a lot of the words of my mother, especially the last part,” he said, before adding, “What I do believe has happened is that Hannah's caught in the middle, and nobody deserves it.”
He also said, “Everybody should have that right and it's not her fault,” after arguing that Kate Gosselin is leveraging finances or Hannah's relationship with their siblings over Hannah. He said he had seen Hannah many times in the past year, which directly conflicts with her claim that she had not spoken to him in close to a year.
Netflix and In the Shadow of Eight
October 13 brought the release of In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, the memoir in which Collin made abuse allegations against Kate. He said on TV that “Hannah opened up about a lot of truths” and that she had also spoken about things that happened at the hands of their mother, tying her comments to the larger project already in motion.
He then said the production was already deep enough along that “It's already filmed,” a detail that suggests the family dispute is now part of two separate products: the book released on October 13 and the Netflix documentary he said had already been largely shot. For readers tracking the feud, the practical takeaway is simple: Hannah has stepped away from public comment, but Collin is still using TV to challenge the version of events she put out on Instagram Stories.
What remains open is the same question that drove the split in the first place: whether Hannah’s withdrawal signals a firm break with Collin’s allegations, or just a pause while the memoir and Netflix documentary keep moving.
