Grayson Chrisley’s medical and toxicology records from a 2022 Tennessee crash are now at the center of a lawsuit that also names Todd Chrisley, Julie Chrisley and Savannah Chrisley. Patrick Rykwalder wants access to the records, while the Chrisleys argue they do not matter to the damages in the case.

The dispute reaches beyond a single file request. It goes to what a court may let into evidence when one side says post-crash medical records could shed light on a driver’s condition and the other side says they do not belong in the damages case.

2022 Tennessee crash

The crash happened in Tennessee in 2022, when Grayson was driving a 2020 Ford F-150 and collided with Rykwalder’s vehicle. Rykwalder alleged that he failed to pay attention, and Grayson denied that accusation.

That collision later became part of a lawsuit in which Rykwalder sued Grayson, Todd Chrisley, Julie Chrisley and Savannah Chrisley. The records fight sits inside that larger case, not outside it.

Patrick Rykwalder and the Chrisley

Rykwalder sought medical and toxicology records tied to Grayson after the crash. New court documents reportedly show that he accused the Chrisleys of obstructing his efforts to obtain them.

The Chrisleys responded that the records were irrelevant to the damages at issue. That disagreement matters because damages disputes often turn on what a jury can consider about injury, condition and the sequence of events after a crash.

Rykwalder also questioned Grayson’s reported concussion. On one side of the case, that type of challenge can be used to press for evidence about a person’s condition after a collision; on the other, it is the kind of detail the opposing side may try to keep out if it says the information does not change the damages question.

Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley

Todd Chrisley said in a November 2022 podcast appearance that he went to the scene and accompanied Grayson to the hospital. He also said: “I went to the scene and accompanied Grayson to the hospital.”

He added: “I asked hospital staff to conduct a toxicology test on my son.”

The crash happened just weeks before Todd and Julie Chrisley began serving prison sentences, adding another layer to a case already moving through court. For the families involved, the immediate issue is not the crash itself but whether those records can be obtained and used as evidence while the lawsuit continues.
