Middlesbrough can go top of the Championship if they beat Bolton Wanderers at Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday night.
The 20:00 BST kick-off gives Middlesbrough a clear chance to move to the summit, while Bolton can also make a meaningful jump with a home win. Victory for Bolton would move them into touching distance of the play-off places, adding extra weight to a fixture that already carries plenty of table significance.
Recent head-to-head record
The recent record between the sides points to a strong run for Middlesbrough. They have won the past nine meetings with Bolton in all competitions, which gives them a clear psychological edge going into this Championship match.
That said, pre-match records only tell part of the story. Bolton will be at home and know that ending Middlesbrough's winning run in the fixture would not only improve their own position, but also have an impact near the top of the Championship table.
For Middlesbrough, the task is straightforward: win and they can finish the night in first place. For Bolton, a positive result would keep them firmly in the mix as the season continues to take shape.
