The Seattle Seahawks waived Trevon Diggs on Friday, freeing up a roster spot as the team works to get its season back on track.
The move comes after the Seahawks dropped consecutive games to the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos, leaving them at 3-3 entering Week 7. Seattle is also dealing with injuries and an early NFC West deficit, which added urgency to the decision.
Earlier in the season, Trevon Diggs had been stealing snaps from Nehemiah Pritchett in the Seattle secondary. But with the Seahawks looking for stability after back-to-back losses, the former All-Pro cornerback was the player removed from the roster.
What the move means for Seattle
For the Seahawks, the transaction is a sign that the roster is still in flux as they try to regroup. Reaching 3-3 keeps Seattle in the mix, but the recent losses made it clear the team wanted to make at least one adjustment heading into the next stretch of the season.
Waiving Diggs does not solve every issue on its own, but it does give Seattle another open spot to work with as it manages injuries and looks for better results in the NFC West.
