Huddersfield Town go into Huddersfield Vs Wigan Athletic with another attacking concern hanging over their preparations, as Bojan Radulovic may miss the next couple of weeks because of a minor hamstring issue. It is a reminder that, even against a Wigan Athletic side sitting bottom of League One with just seven points from ten league games, Town are still having to manage their squad carefully.

Radulovic was rested against Peterborough on Tuesday night as a precaution, but the latest update suggests the forward could be unavailable for a little while yet. For Huddersfield, that matters because they are already dealing with a number of availability issues across the squad, including long-term injuries and a suspension.

Radulovic is the latest concern

The timing is not ideal. Huddersfield play Wigan at the Accu Stadium on Saturday at 12:30pm, and the forward issue leaves the manager needing to weigh up selection options once again. Radulovic had already been managed carefully in the week, and the fact he may now be sidelined for two weeks means the caution around him appears justified.

That does not change the basic task in front of Town. They will still be expected to control the game and make the most of home advantage, especially against a Wigan side that has had a very poor goal output and has endured an ailing season so far. But the loss of another forward option is never ideal, particularly when the schedule is busy and the margins can be tight.

How Huddersfield are handling the wider picture

There has at least been some positive news elsewhere in the squad. Since September, Ryan Ledson and David Kasumu had been out, but both returned to full training earlier this week. Earlier this month, Ledson also accepted a charge of using abusive and/or insulting words to the officials during the 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, which led to a three-match ban.

That means Huddersfield are working through multiple moving parts at once, with some players coming back while others are still unavailable. It is the kind of situation that tests depth as much as quality, and it leaves little room for complacency even in a fixture that may look favourable on paper.

What else is on the agenda for Town

There is a wider club rhythm building around the weekend too. Town Women beat Middlesbrough 3-1 at their new Emley home on Sunday, and they will host Middlesbrough again in the FA Cup this weekend. Meanwhile, Town’s FA Youth Cup game against Bradford City is set for the Accu Stadium on Wednesday 28th October at 7pm.

For now, though, the focus is firmly on Huddersfield Vs Wigan Athletic. The home side should still see this as a chance to build momentum, but Radulovic’s fitness update ensures there is at least one fresh selection question before kickoff.
