Greenock Morton’s scheduled match against Ayr United was postponed on the day of the game after the referee determined the pitch could not safely proceed. The decision came shortly before 1.45pm, following a late inspection at Cappielow Park.
At approximately 11.35am, Greenock Morton FC said no pitch inspection was planned at that time. However, worsening weather conditions continued throughout the day, and the referee later arrived to assess the surface before making the call to postpone the fixture.
What supporters need to know
The late call meant the game was stopped before kick-off, after some supporters had already arrived at the stadium or were travelling to Greenock for today’s scheduled match against Ayr United. The club said tickets remain valid for the rearranged fixture, although a new date has not yet been set.
For supporters, the postponement was frustrating because of how late it came in the day, but the safety decision left no option for the match to go ahead. Greenock Morton FC also directed supporters to contact [email protected] with any ticket enquiries.
