Pentagon files detail a June Unidentified Flying Object near a national security site

On October 23, 2026, the Pentagon released a new batch of UFO files that included a June encounter near a national security site, where federal agents in the western U.S. described a large, triangular craft. The unidentified flying object was seen after sunset and later traced through a signed FBI statement and a Pentagon memo.

Pentagon files and FBI accounts

The file set was the seventh released under an executive order President Trump signed earlier in 2026, and it contained 28 PDF files. The June account came from federal agents who said a third agent nearby alerted them to the object. They estimated it at roughly nine to fifteen feet across, six to nine feet deep, and one to two feet thick.

In the Pentagon memo and the signed FBI statement, the craft was described as a substantial, nonreflective, dark black triangular object that most resembled a delta wing drone. The agents first saw it above a ridgeline a few miles to the west, then watched it climb two to three hundred feet in a slow, controlled, perfectly vertical ascent.

Vertical climb over the ridge

The report says the object held a completely static orientation as it rose, without tilting, swaying, or wobbling. Investigators wrote that the ascent happened in absolute acoustic silence. Through an infrared scope, the agents said the object looked hotter than ambient temperature, with a completely consistent thermal signature across the entire airframe and no visible exhaust gases.

When the craft reached 200 to 300 feet above the ridgeline, it stopped instantly and hovered for about 20 seconds. It then sped away at a velocity compared to that of a military fighter jet, and the agents lost sight of it within a few seconds. The memo said absolute acoustic silence continued during that high-speed departure.

No wreckage in the canyon drainage

The next morning, a ground survey of the canyon drainage found no wreckage, ground scarring, or vegetation damage. No impact signature, smoke, or dust was observed, either. The physical record left the same narrow question the agents faced in June: what moved like an aircraft, behaved like a controlled machine, and left nothing behind except a detailed report.

The October release adds a more complete witness account to the Pentagon's latest UFO files, but it does not identify the craft. It also sits alongside earlier material from 2023, when federal law enforcement agents at an undisclosed location reported orange orbs that released smaller red orbs over a two-day period.
