Robert Carlyle has joined The Gentlemen Season 3 as production gets underway in the UK and Morocco. Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood are also on the new cast list, a sign that the series is expanding while the cameras are already rolling.

The Gentlemen Season 3 cast expands

The season will run for eight episodes, with Theo James leading the series and Guy Ritchie and Matthew Read writing. Guy Ritchie and Eran Creevy are directing, while the executive producer list also includes Ivan Atkinson, Will Gould, Simon Crawford Collins, Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures, Jonathan Glickman and Alix Jaffe for Miramax TV, and Theo James.

Robert Carlyle joins a group that also includes Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows and Bugzy Malone. For a show already split between the UK and Morocco, that kind of cast turn adds weight before a frame has been cut.

Daniel Ings closes out

Daniel Ings said, "I’m not in the next one, so that’s a fun sense of closure" in an interview with HATC Magazine. He also added, "I see it as closure for the character in a way; it just ends as this wild, broken, crazy, probably mumbling into the ether somewhere in the British countryside."

That departure matters because Ings plays Lord Frederick Horniman, and Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Stanley Johnston, is also not returning. Maya Jama, meanwhile, made her debut in Season 2 as Aisha, so the cast has already been shifting before this new production cycle even began.

Meghan Markle and the new season

Meghan Markle had conversations about a role, but she will not appear in the new season. The move leaves the focus on the actors who are actually in production now, including Robert Carlyle, Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood, rather than on a name that never made it onto the finished cast list.

The cleanest read here is simple: The Gentlemen is using Season 3 to reset its balance, keep Theo James at the center, and lean on a larger ensemble across eight episodes. The only open question left in the casting is how Robert Carlyle, Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood will fit into that structure once the season reaches the screen.
