Gregg Wallace is moving on after the sacked him over 45 substantiated allegations, Marcus Wareing said. Wareing described the situation as tough for Wallace and John Torode, but said Wallace looks really well and is moving forward.
Wareing told The Sunday Times that he sees Wallace on social media from time to time and that life goes on. His comments land after the ’s July 2025 sackings, which ended Wallace’s run on the cooking contest and put the reputations of both presenters under the same scrutiny.
45 allegations in July 2025
The independent report against Wallace substantiated 45 allegations, including inappropriate sexual language and one incident of unwelcome physical contact. He apologised for any distress caused while saying the report cleared him of the most serious and sensational allegations, a line that left room for partial acceptance without a full retreat.
John Torode was also sacked in July 2025 after an allegation using an extremely offensive racist term was upheld. Torode said he had no recollection of the incident and was shocked and saddened by the allegation, adding a second layer to a dismissal that had already moved beyond one personality and into institutional damage control.
Wareing on Wallace now
Wareing, who has been a judge on MasterChef: The Professionals since 2014, said: “We’re always there,” and added: “I think with Gregg, what I’ve felt is life goes on and you find yourself, when you look back at your last messages, which I can’t remember…” He also said: “I see Gregg on social media from time to time and he’s moving on now. I think constant communication with the people of the past is that constant reminder. He looks really well and I’m pleased for him.”
That puts Wallace in a strange middle ground: publicly cut loose by the, but not absent from the conversation. His January Substack post, in which he apologised for his behaviour on Masterchef in a 1,000-word post and also for his initial response that the complaints were being made by middle-class women of a certain age, shows how he has tried to reframe the story on his own terms.
Masterchef after the sackings
Wallace stepped away from his role in November 2024 while historic allegations of misconduct were investigated, then sued the in October 2025 for allegedly causing him distress and harassment by failing to disclose his personal data before dropping that suit in February this year. The record now is blunt: 45 substantiated allegations, a separate upheld allegation against Torode, and a former judge saying Wallace is moving on.
What happens next for Wallace’s professional move is still the open issue, and that is the part to watch. For now, Wareing’s read is less about comeback than reset: Wallace is still visible, still discussing his own version of events, and still trying to live with a dismissal that has not faded into the background.
