Shane Fury Jr European Championship Gold: 13-year-old takes first international title in Trabzon

Shane Fury Jr has claimed Shane Fury Jr European Championship gold after winning the under-70kg title at the European Under-15 Championships in Trabzon, Türkiye. The 13-year-old took three close wins to secure his first international tournament victory and add another medal to a promising year for the Fury family’s next generation.

England sent 14 boxers to the tournament, which ran from October 17 to 27, and Fury Jr made the most of the opportunity. Earlier this year, he had already secured his second consecutive Northwest regional title, but this was a different level of test and a more demanding stage.

How Shane Fury Jr won the title

Fury Jr’s route to gold was built on composure and close-round judgement. He beat Bohdan Moroz 3-2 in the quarter-finals before producing a more controlled 5-0 win over Dan Florea in the semi-finals.

In the final, he faced Sarkhan Hakhverdiyev and edged another tight contest 3-2 to finish top of the podium. Three fights, three wins, and two of them by the narrowest possible margin is exactly the sort of run that shows both resilience and maturity.

Tyson Fury’s reaction says plenty

Tyson Fury celebrated the victory on Instagram stories after the final, hailing his nephew’s achievement in emphatic fashion. He called him the European champion and praised him for bringing back the gold medal on his first international tournament.

Fury also said he had prayed for Shane’s success and thanked God and Jesus for delivering the victories. It was the kind of reaction that made clear how much the result meant inside the family, and why this gold medal was seen as part of a strong year for the next generation.

Frank Warren also marked the result by congratulating Shane Fury, along with Solomon Dubois and Lola Hatton, after their medal wins at the U15 European Championships. For Shane Fury Jr, though, this was the headline moment: a first international title, earned the hard way, and one that will only raise expectations for what comes next.
