Robin Yount is part of the backdrop to Tom Doerr’s 44-year return to the World Series. The Mequon lawyer went back with his children in 2026 after first attending in 1982 as a 7-year-old, turning one Brewers run into a family memory across two generations.
Doerr said, "Parents were season ticket holders forever. I was seven years old, 1982." He attended Game 4 at County Stadium, where the Brewers beat the Cardinals 7-5 to tie the series before losing to the Cardinals in seven games.

His first memory is not just the score. Doerr said, "Driving out of the parking lot, people were shaking the car, literally shaking the car." He added, "And I was scared because the fans were so excited. But my dad told me it was good. It was celebratory."
That scene helps explain why the 2026 trip felt familiar even with new faces in the car. Doerr returned to the ballpark 44 years and seven days later with his own children, and he still recognized the same shared emotion around a Brewers World Series game.

Inside the stands, he described a different mood. "Everyone is everyone's buddy." He also said, "Everyone is on the same page. Everyone is having a great time." The atmosphere was still celebratory, but he called it calmer than the experience he had as a child.
Doerr said the older memory and the newer one fit together because the Brewers had taken him back to the same setting his parents once did. His family’s season-ticket habit made the return feel less like a one-off trip and more like a continuation of the same ritual, only with his children beside him.
Friday night for the Brewers
Doerr was asked whether cars were shaken again after the 2026 game. He answered, "Not this time." Then he added, "Not this time, but I'm certain, if we come back and have to do it on Friday night, they'll be some cars being shook."
That leaves the story with a familiar edge: one game, one family, and a fan who has now seen the Brewers World Series through two different eras. If the Brewers do return on Friday night, Doerr already knows the parking lot may sound a lot like 1982.
