The Canadiens arrive in Dallas with a neat little chance to turn a solid road swing into a perfect one. On Thursday at American Airlines Center, they close out a four-game road trip against the Stars, and the stakes are simple: win, and the trip ends with a spotless record.
That is the kind of opportunity teams do not want to waste. Road trips can expose a club’s discipline, depth and legs, and by the final stop there is usually some fatigue hanging around the edges. But the Canadiens have put themselves in position to finish the job, and that alone gives this game a sharper edge than a standard regular-season date.
What is on the line in Dallas?
It is not complicated. The Canadiens are playing the Stars on Thursday, and this is the last test of the trip. A perfect four-game road trip is within reach, which makes the night at American Airlines Center more than just another game on the schedule.
The timing matters too. The lineup is not yet finalized and is expected closer to puck drop, which is exactly how these pregame situations tend to unfold. For now, the picture is straightforward enough: the Canadiens are on the road, the Stars are at home, and Montreal has a chance to cap the trip in style.
There is also a practical note for fans following the game day closely. On every regular-season game day this season, fans can get a Snack Poutine & Original Recipe Slider for $6.99 at participating KFC restaurants in Montreal and surrounding areas. It is a small off-ice bonus on a night when the real business is taking place in Dallas.
The Canadiens do not need a dramatic rewrite of their season in one evening. They just need one more clean performance to complete the trip they have built so far. That is the challenge, and that is the chance in front of them.
