Wayne Rooney fuels speculation as When Does I'm A Celebrity Start teaser lands

Wayne Rooney and Jesy Nelson have been pulled into the latest when does I'm A Celebrity start chatter after ITV released a first teaser for the new season of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. The show is nearly back on screen, but the 2026 line-up still has not been locked in.

Rooney was asked about the rumours on This Morning and kept the response tight: "I've been asked all the time as well, and there's obviously rumours being thrown the last few years, and there's rumours again this year. So you'll have to wait and see." Ben Shephard then repeated that viewers would "have to wait and see".

Ant and Dec set the tone

ITV's teaser is the clearest sign yet that the next run is moving from speculation into promotion. It features Ant and Dec leading a choir in an I'm a Celebrity-themed version of '12 Days of Christmas', which puts the broadcaster on the front foot even though the cast list remains open.

That matters because the series is already being marketed before the line-up is settled. For viewers, the useful takeaway is simple: the campaign has started, but the casting reveal still has work to do.

Rooney and Jesy Nelson

Jesy Nelson and Rooney are among the new names circulating alongside Ricky Wilson, Ade Adepitan, AJ Odudu, Nadiya Bychkova, Ben Stokes and Su-Elise Nash. Perri Kiely, Joanna Page, Christopher Dean and Olivia Attwood have also been speculated as possible contestants.

The spread of names shows how wide the guesswork has become. ITV has not put a stamp on any of them, and that leaves the rumours useful mainly as indicators of where attention is gathering rather than who is actually booked.

The Wild Frontier in 2027

The Wild Frontier is already in motion as a separate spin-off, with filming under way ahead of a 2027 launch date. It is set in the Canadian wilderness and will send contestants in as pairs, which gives ITV a second jungle-format hook beyond the main series.

For now, though, the main series remains the focus. Rooney's answer is the sharper guide for anyone waiting on casting: the noise is real, the teaser is out, and the actual list is still being held back until ITV is ready to drop it.
