The Denver Nuggets are scheduled to travel to Phoenix on Friday night to face the Suns in an early Western Conference showdown during the 2026-27 NBA season. With both teams looking to build momentum early, the matchup puts Nikola Jokic and Devin Booker front and center.
Jokic remains the focal point for Denver, leading the Nuggets with his scoring, rebounding and playmaking. That all-around impact gives Denver a steady foundation in games like this, especially against a Phoenix team that also has a clear go-to star in Booker.
Why this matchup matters
The game is more than just another date on the schedule. For both the Nuggets and Suns, it is an early chance to measure where they stand in a competitive Western Conference. Matchups like this often carry extra weight because they can help set the tone for the rest of the season.
Booker gives Phoenix the same kind of star-driven identity Denver gets from Jokic. When those two teams meet, the spotlight usually stays on the primary options, and that is especially true here with Jokic and Booker expected to lead the way.
