Nintendo Store restocks Nintendo Switch Zelda 40th Anniversary on October 29

The Nintendo Switch Zelda 40th Anniversary console flashed in and out of stock repeatedly at the Nintendo Store on October 29, the day it was released. Shoppers who tried to buy it online hit sold-out notices, error messages and basket limits instead.

Matt Swider, the Senior Editor at The Shortcut, told readers to follow his X account for alerts when stock appears. He has been tracking Zelda Switch 2 restocks as the Nintendo Store remains the best place to try for the console.

Nintendo Store stock on October 29

The Nintendo Store held the most restocks on October 29, but each wave disappeared quickly. Amazon was the only other retailer to offer an online restock after launch, and it sold out almost instantly.

That pattern left shoppers with a narrow window and little room to wait. The Store kept producing brief openings, but many buyers still ran into messages saying they could not add the required amount to their baskets.

Walmart and Target on November 6

Walmart's expected restock did not happen because of a supply chain issue, pushing its online availability to November 6. Target will also offer the Zelda Switch 2 that same day, giving buyers another chance once the launch-day rush has passed.

For shoppers deciding what to do next, the practical move is to watch the Nintendo Store closely and follow Swider's alerts on X. The next clear buying windows are November 5 for in-store events at Best Buy and Nintendo, then November 6 for Walmart and Target online.

Best Buy and Nintendo events

Best Buy and Nintendo are holding in-store events on November 5, and Nintendo's event requires a Warp Pipe Pass. GameStop is also letting customers pre-order in-store, giving buyers another path if online stock disappears again before November 6.
