Bonfire Night 2026 starts early across the North West, with free fireworks events running from 31 October to 7 November. Katie Thistleton and Hacker T Dog are part of The Printworks plan on 5 November, while Manchester, Cheetham Hill, Heywood and Rochdale all have public dates on the calendar.

At the Irish World Heritage Centre in Cheetham Hill, the first free event runs on Saturday 31 October from 13:00 GMT to 21:00, with fireworks at 19:30. The same site repeats on Thursday 5 November, with the event running from 17:00 to 21:00 and fireworks again at 19:30, plus a fire show and live music from 17:00.

Manchester's 5 November options

The Printworks in Manchester city centre switches the format on 5 November, offering a free digital firework display from 16:30 until 19:00 rather than a traditional fireworks celebration. Storytelling from Radio One's Katie Thistleton and Hacker T Dog is built into the schedule, with the main fireworks and music from 18:15.

That split matters because it gives the city centre a different kind of Bonfire Night draw: one event is built around live storytelling and a digital display, while the Irish World Heritage Centre keeps a more traditional fireworks-and-music structure. For residents deciding between them, the start times make the choice practical as much as cultural.

Rochdale and Heywood dates

Rochdale Borough Council is also running a cluster of free-to-attend, non-ticketed events. Middleton Bonfire and Fireworks Display takes place at Bowlee Community Park on Monday 2 November, Heywood Bonfire and Fireworks Display follows on Tuesday 3 November at Queen's Park Road in Heywood, opposite Queen's Park, and the Rochdale Bonfire and Fireworks Display lands at Cronkeyshaw Common in Rochdale on Wednesday 4 November.

For the Middleton and Heywood dates, funfairs open from 18:00, adding another layer to the evening rather than turning them into straightforward fireworks-only shows. The schedule spreads activity across several nights, which should make it easier for residents in different parts of the area to pick a nearby option instead of crowding into one venue.

Manchester City Council's 7 November close

Manchester City Council finishes the run with free firework night celebrations at Heaton Park, Wythenshawe Park and Platt Fields Park on Saturday 7 November. Each site opens at 15:00 and finishes at 21:00, with fireworks at 17:00 and 20:00, giving the city three same-day choices instead of a single central event.

How many people are expected to attend each of the free events is not stated, but the spread of dates and venues leaves residents with a clear free route into Bonfire Night 2026 if they want one. The practical move now is simple: pick the site, check the start time, and get there early enough for the fireworks slot you want.
