Rohan Campbell has joined Olivia Holt and Jaimie Alexander in Survive: The Game, Scout Taylor-Compton’s horror film that was shooting in Spain when the casting news landed. The project also ties Campbell back to Halloween Ends, where he broke out opposite Jamie Lee Curtis.
Three lead actors were set to anchor the film: Holt, Alexander, and Campbell. Taylor-Compton directed from a script she wrote with Michael Kennedy, and she said, “I’ve played the final girl. I spent years learning what it takes to survive a horror movie: the running, the screaming, the moment you finally turn around and fight.”
Gipuzkoa, Spain Shoot
Survive: The Game was filming entirely in Gipuzkoa, Spain, at Zinealdea Studios and on location in Irún, Spain. That puts the casting announcement inside an active production window, not a development phase, which means the film was already moving through its shoot while the lead roster came together.
That timing matters because the production was not being introduced as a concept; it was already in motion. The source says the movie sees a group of friends uncover an ancient board game inside a secluded cabin with a violent past, and each roll of the dice brings a deadly fate to life.
Taylor-Compton's Horror Reset
Taylor-Compton previously wrote and directed Road to Recovery and co-directed Last Chance Motel, and she framed this film as a different kind of horror story. “With Survive: The Game, I wanted to ask a different question. What if the thing chasing you isn’t outside the door? What if surviving means confronting the worst version of yourself first?”
Randy Wayne said, “This is the fourth film we’ve worked on with Scout, and the second she’s directing for Rebellium,” adding that audiences are going to meet antagonists they’ve never seen before. He also said the production sees the film as having franchise potential, which is the kind of language that usually follows a horror title with a built-in hook rather than a one-off scare machine.
Three Leads, One Horror Setup
Holt recently starred in Heart Eyes, Alexander is best known for her five-season run as Jane Doe on Blindspot and her recurring role as Lady Sif in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Campbell currently stars in Below. Put together, the cast gives Survive: The Game a mix of horror, television, and franchise familiarity that can travel beyond one niche audience.
The unanswered piece is the screen dynamic: what roles Holt, Alexander, and Campbell will play in the story. For now, the film has a lead trio, a Spain shoot, and a director who is treating survival as a psychological problem first and a physical one second.
