Monaco head to Paris FC on Sunday at 17:15 with a simple task in front of them: stop a three-match Ligue 1 skid and get their domestic season moving again. At the start of the campaign, Monaco were early-season pacesetters, but that momentum has faded after a run of draws and a defeat that has left Filipe Luis searching for a response.
The recent league sequence has been frustratingly close without being good enough. Monaco drew 2-2 with Toulouse at home, then followed that with a 1-1 home draw against Lille before losing 1-0 at Lorient. Those results have slowed their league progress, even though their Conference League run has remained perfect.
What Luis wants to see
Filipe Luis said Monaco have largely matched their opponents, but they have not controlled the outcome because of inconsistency. That is the problem they need to solve in Paris. The team has shown enough quality in stretches, but it has not yet turned those moments into a full 90-minute league performance.
One point Luis highlighted was the second-half intensity against Lille, which he described as a template. That gives Monaco a reference point for how they want to play, even if they need to sustain it for longer and finish chances more cleanly.
Where the attack needs to improve
Monaco’s issues are not being driven by a lack of opportunities. They are averaging 12.9 shots per game, which ranks eighth in Ligue 1, and 4.6 shots on target per game, which puts them eleventh in the league. The numbers suggest the chances are there, but the conversion has not been consistent enough to match the volume.
That was also the message from Aleksandr Golovin, who said greater efficiency is needed in the box. It is a straightforward diagnosis and one Monaco have to turn into action quickly if they want to arrest the slide.
Players Monaco may lean on
Several names sit at the center of Monaco’s response. Aleksandr Golovin and Denis Zakaria are key reference points for the team, while Eric Dier, Folarin Balogun, Mika Biereth, Takumi Minamino, Mohammed Salisu, Christian Mawissa and Paris Brunner are among the other players listed in the squad context around this match.
For Monaco, the task at Stade Jean-Bouin is less about style than outcome. A strong performance would help, but after three straight Ligue 1 matches without a win, the immediate need is to leave Paris with a result that resets the league picture and restores some control to their season.
