Calvin Ridley active vs. Bengals after Week 7 absence — Titans Vs Bengals gets a much-needed boost

This is the kind of update the Titans badly needed before Titans vs Bengals: Calvin Ridley is in line to play on Sunday after missing Week 7 with a hip injury. That alone changes the shape of the passing game. It does not magically solve every problem, but it does at least give Tennessee something resembling its preferred receiving setup for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Ridley’s route back was encouraging enough. He logged back-to-back limited sessions before upgrading to full on Friday, and that was the clearest sign he had done enough to put himself in position to go. In a game where every available playmaker matters, simply having him on the field is a meaningful development. The Titans cannot afford to treat proven pass-catchers like optional extras when the margin for error is already thin.

Ridley’s return matters, but the absences do too

The other side of the story is just as important. Carnell Tate has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Bengals, which leaves Ayomanor and Wan'Dale Robinson as the top wide receivers in the passing game. That is the reality now, not some idealized depth-chart theory. The Titans are forced to reshape the passing attack around available bodies rather than the names they might prefer to use.

Tyjae Spears is also out, and that takes another option away from the backfield against Cincinnati. It is never ideal to lose receiving help and backfield depth at the same time, especially when the offense is already leaning on thin margins. Ridley’s presence softens the blow, but it does not erase it. It simply stops the situation from becoming even more awkward.

The larger point is simple enough: Ridley being active is a win for Tennessee, even if it is not the kind of headline that fixes everything. The Titans are still managing absences, still adjusting roles, and still hoping the pieces they do have are enough to make Sunday count.

Carnell Tate is expected back after the Titans' bye for Week 10 against the Jaguars on Sunday, Nov. 15. For now, though, the focus is far more immediate. Ridley is available, the Bengals are next, and Tennessee at least walks into the game with one of its most important receivers on the field.
