PlayStation Game Size says the GTA 6 PS5 preload date is November 12, giving PlayStation 5 players a head start before Grand Theft Auto VI reaches release on November 19. The reported 210GB download makes this one of the clearest storage questions heading into launch.
November 12 on PlayStation 5
“Standard ($79.99) Pre-Load: November 12 Release: November 19,” PlayStation Game Size posted on An X dated October 27, 2026. That lines up with a midnight release time and the Standard version of Grand Theft Auto VI going live on November 19.
Insider Gaming corroborated the X post, but the practical detail for PS5 owners is simpler: preload begins a week before launch. That gives players a narrow window to get the game onto the console before release day traffic and any last-minute download bottlenecks.
210GB on PS5
The reported download size for Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 is 210GB, and that number is doing the real work here. It is not yet known whether 210GB is the total storage necessary to install the game or only the game itself, which matters because installers take up temporary space on a hard drive before disappearing after setup.
Red Dead Redemption 2 needed 149GB of free space to be installed on a PS4 in 2018, so the new figure fits a broader pattern of increasingly large releases. A standard 512GB Xbox Series S has approximately 362GB of usable storage, which shows how quickly a single major game can crowd out the rest of a library.
What PS5 players should expect
The real utility of the preload window is that it shifts the burden earlier, not smaller. Players who want Grand Theft Auto VI ready at launch should make room before November 12, since a day-one patch could add to the amount of downloading required at launch.
Rockstar Games has been open about Grand Theft Auto VI being a big game, and the reported 210GB size suggests this is not a routine install. The cleanest read is simple: free up storage now, not on release day, because the preload gives players a date and the file size gives them a warning.
