Jesús de Miguel Alameda, the Tenerife striker who had just helped the club return to Segunda, died on Tuesday morning at Hospital Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria after being struck in a match on Monday. He was 30.
The news closes a career that had made him one of the most productive forwards in Spanish lower-division football. In July 2025, Tenerife signed him on a contract through 2028, and he quickly became central to the team’s attack. He scored six goals in Tenerife’s first five league matches and finished the season with 11 league goals in 29 matches.
A scorer who kept producing
De Miguel Alameda was born on 21 September 1996 and stood 1,90 meters tall. His rise took shape over several stops in Spanish football. In 2015, he moved up to Leganés B in Tercera División, though he did not reach the first team. Later, he joined Unionistas de Salamanca, where he scored 12 goals in the 2021-2022 season, and then moved to Castellón in January 2023.
His spell at Castellón strengthened his reputation. In 2024, he scored 16 goals and added 6 assists in 38 matches, helping the club win promotion to Segunda. That production led Tenerife to bring him in the following summer, and he delivered again almost immediately.
Personal ties and a long connection to football
De Miguel Alameda’s story also carried a personal thread. As a teenager in January 2013, he wrote on X, then called Twitter, about wanting to go to Tenerife if he passed all his exams. He was also a lifelong Real Madrid fan, and those early messages now read as an old ambition that eventually became reality.
His career included moments that stood out beyond the numbers. In January 2024, he dedicated a goal in Sanlúcar to his grandmother after she had died days earlier. It was another reminder of how closely his footballing life and personal life were connected.
Tenerife had only recently completed its climb back to Segunda, becoming Group champion on 1 May 2026. De Miguel Alameda was part of that campaign and had already become one of the team’s most reliable scorers. His death leaves a major loss for the club and for a career that was still in motion.
