Louisiana voters asking what time does my polling place open have a statewide answer for Election Day: polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Anyone in line when polls close at 8 p.m. will still be allowed to vote.
That gives voters a fixed window, but not a fixed location. Polling locations vary depending on where voters live, and some places may have changed since the last election.
Louisiana Voter Portal
The Louisiana Voter Portal is the main place for voters to check the details before they leave home. Residents can use it to look up their assigned precinct, review voter registration information and view a sample ballot.
Voters can also use the state’s GeauxVote mobile app to find election information. For someone heading out before work or after school, that check can prevent a trip to the wrong place.
Secretary of State’s website
Louisiana voters are also being asked to bring photo identification when they cast ballots. If a voter cannot provide acceptable identification, that person may still vote by signing a voter identification affidavit.
After polls close, results will begin populating on the Secretary of State’s website. On a ballot with a U.S. Senate race, six congressional seats and 10 proposed constitutional amendments, the first step for most voters is still the same: check the assigned precinct, bring ID if they have it, and get in line before 8 p.m.
