Dominic Shiels gave Hamilton Academical the opening goal against Raith Rovers in the Challenge Cup, finishing from the left side of the six yard box to make it 1-0.
The goal was the key moment in a match that had already seen a few early chances and stoppages. Earlier in the game, Aaron Eadie conceded a corner for Raith Rovers and later committed a foul on Kyle Turner, while Hamilton kept pressing for the breakthrough.
After Shiels scored, Raith Rovers tried to respond through Gregor Crookston, but his shot was saved by Luke Armstrong. Hamilton then continued to threaten, with Scott Tiffoney missing from outside the box and Arron Lyall sending a later effort too high.
Raith Rovers also conceded another corner after Kai Smutek was involved later in the sequence, but the scoreline remained unchanged. For now, Shiels' finish stands as the decisive moment in Hamilton vs Raith Rovers.
