Karen Dunbar has cancelled the rest of her Aw Roon the Hooses tour after saying she had been paid for only five of 19 shows. She said the pressure had become too much and that the dispute with the promoter would likely end up in court.
Aw Roon the Hooses
The cancelled dates cover the final 20 shows of the 40-date run, cutting the tour in half at the point where it had already reached 19 performances. Dunfermline, Troon, Motherwell, Inverurie, Nairn, Dundee, Portobello, Dunbar and Stirling are among the places left without those appearances.
Dunbar said on social media: "I can’t go on. Honestly, I’ve never been in a situation like this in my life. The stress has been unbelievable, and I am so sorry for all the people who have bought tickets and won’t be coming." She also told ticket holders: "Hopefully you’ll be able to get a refund through the promoter."
Greenock, Peebles and Shotts
Some dates were not caught by the cancellation. Greenock, Peebles and Shotts were organised by a different promoter, leaving those shows outside the dispute that stopped the rest of the run. For ticket holders on the cancelled dates, the practical question now is whether the promoter processes refunds quickly or whether the issue moves into court first.
Dunbar is best known for Chewin’ the Fat alongside Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, and later had her own series, The Karen Dunbar Show. That profile made the tour a saleable live draw, but the pay dispute has now turned the remaining run into a financial and legal problem rather than a simple scheduling decision.
