Douglas Crow, 57, of Boise died after his motorcycle hit the back of a vehicle late Saturday afternoon, according to ktvb. The crash happened just before 5 p.m. near South Vista Avenue and West Lemhi Street.
Boise police said Crow was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and northbound Vista Avenue was shut down from Ona Street to Targee Street while police investigated.
South Vista Avenue and West Lemhi
The collision was described as involving a high rate of speed, which helps explain why the impact was severe enough to send both drivers to the hospital. The report does not say what led Crow to travel that fast before the motorcycle struck the rear of the vehicle.
Northbound Vista Avenue
The closure on northbound Vista Avenue affected traffic between Ona Street and Targee Street during the investigation. For people in that stretch of Boise, the practical change was immediate: that section of road was not available while police worked the scene.
Douglas Crow
Crow’s death leaves one immediate unanswered question: what caused him to crash into the back of the vehicle in the first place. The police report identifies the time, place and outcome, but not the reason the motorcycle was traveling at such a high rate of speed.
