Volusia County election results put Nancy Miller, Wendy Anderson and Danny Robbins on the Volusia County Council on Election Day. Miller won the at-large seat by 27,863 votes, defeating Mike Poniatowski by 13.48 percentage points.
More than 200,000 people voted in the at-large race, which had already gone to the Aug. 18 primary without a winner reaching the 50% threshold. That left the seat to be decided in November, after Jake Johanssen had left it open by winning Florida Senate District 8.
Wendy Anderson in District 1
Anderson won the District 1 seat with 24,332 votes, or 59.19% of the 41,105 votes cast. She defeated incumbent Don Dempsey, who had held the seat since his election in 2023.
District 1 covers DeLand, Orange City, Lake Helen, Pierson and the northern half of DeBary, along with the unincorporated areas of Astor, DeLeon Springs, Emporia, Seville and Barberville. Anderson is an environmental science professor at Stetson University and lives in DeLand.
Danny Robbins in District 3
Robbins won reelection in District 3 with 26,317 votes and about 53.20% of the vote. He finished about 3,100 votes ahead of Bryon White.
District 3 includes Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater and Oak Hill, along with unincorporated areas of Enterprise, Osteen and the southern portion of the county. Voters there returned Robbins to the council after his 2022 election.
Volusia County Council lineup
The three results changed the makeup of the Volusia County Council across the at-large seat and two districts with broad local coverage. Miller will represent countywide voters, while Anderson and Robbins will take seats tied to specific parts of Volusia County.
For voters, the result settles who will carry those districts into the next council term. The remaining open question is how the new majority, if one forms, will handle countywide policy issues that drew attention in the campaign.
