M&S shoppers reported this week that M&S cornflake cookies, including white chocolate, milk chocolate and triple chocolate cookies, were missing from bakery shelves. @jordz_flynn said he had to go to Tesco after finding no white chocolate cookies left at M&S.
He said: "I’ve just been to M&S to get a cookie and there’s no white chocolate cookies left, apparently there’s a shortage in the UK, which is a disaster. So I had to go to Tesco." That came after he said he had gone to M&S twice this week and left empty-handed.
@jodieparkhouse at M&S
Other shoppers posted TikTok videos showing empty bakery shelves or shelves filled only with Fruit Granola Squares. @jodieparkhouse wrote: "Third M&S we’ve been to and none of them have the white chocolate cookies."
@Freyalucy posted: "POV: You’ve been craving M&S cookies, and you walk in to this." @ryansloving said: "I went to FIVE BRANCHES and couldn’t find the triple chocolate ones," while @layla_twinmummyplusone5 asked: "When are you going to have the cookies back in stock? There’s none anywhere!"
Fruit Granola Squares only
@ronkealeem said: "Equivalent to heartbreak tbh, especially going there in this weather, walking through the storms only to see oat and raisin cookies left." @ashgia_ added: "Please bring back the chocolate button cookies as well, I’m in withdrawal," and @karenlovesyou12 wrote: "Happened to me today. Devastated was an understatement."
Some commenters said there have been supply issues and staff are struggling to keep up with customer demand for the cookies. That has not been established in the posts, but it is the explanation shoppers are trading as they keep finding empty shelves.
Metro and M&S
Metro asked M&S to confirm what was going on. For shoppers looking for the missing cookies, the immediate workaround has been the one @jordz_flynn described: leave M&S and buy elsewhere, or try another branch and hope the shelf is different.
What remains in question is how long the shortage lasts and which cookie varieties return first. For now, the complaint spread across several posts is simple: shoppers are still walking into M&S and not finding the cookies they went in for.
