Target Drops Switch 2 Zelda Edition on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6

Target is lining up Switch 2 Zelda edition stock for Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6, as the Nintendo Switch 2: The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition remains hard to find across retailers. The $520 console has been selling through fast since Oct. 29, and buyers chasing it now have to work around store-specific limits instead of a simple checkout flow.

Target and Best Buy windows

Target has sold out online, but the retailer is still planning two separate drops: an in-store push on Nov. 5 and an online release on Nov. 6. Best Buy is also out of stock online, with select stores opening at midnight on Nov. 5 for walk-in sales. For shoppers, that means the nearest path is no longer a universal web listing; it is a narrow window tied to the store format that still has inventory.

That same scarcity is shaping the rest of the market. Nintendo Store is out of stock but is letting shoppers add the console to a wishlist for restock alerts, while Walmart is telling buyers to turn on in-stock email alerts. Amazon is moving tiny batches randomly throughout the day, so availability can disappear before a shopper reaches checkout.

Walmart and GameStop limits

GameStop has turned off online orders and is pushing customers into stores instead. Walmart frequently locks headline console drops behind paid Walmart+ subscriptions for the first 30 to 60 minutes, which can put nonmembers at the back of the line even when stock appears. The result is a market where the console is circulating, but not in a way that most buyers can predict from one retailer to the next.

The pressure is higher because the console does not include The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, and that game arrives on Thursday, Nov. 5. The hardware’s black-and-gold finish, themed Joy-Con 2 controllers, matching dock with the gold Triforce emblem, 256GB of built-in storage, 4K support when docked, and GameChat features make it a niche item with broad appeal, which is exactly the combination that keeps limited-edition stock moving faster than ordinary hardware.

Nov. 5 and Nov. 6

Oct. 29 was the first release date for the custom Zelda hardware, but the next buying opportunities are concentrated around the game launch period. For anyone still trying to get one, the practical move is to split the hunt: Target on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6, Best Buy stores at midnight on Nov. 5, then the retailer pages that are still running alerts rather than open carts. How much inventory each window will actually carry is the unresolved part, and that is what will decide whether this restock feels real or merely visible.
