Carlos PenaVega Opens Door to One Last Baby After Indy — Carlos Penavega

Carlos PenaVega and Alexa PenaVega are open to having one last baby two years after Indy was stillborn. The new family update comes from his afterword in Joy Isn't Canceled: What Grief Taught Us About Pain, Peace, and Purpose, where he puts the possibility in plain terms.

Joy Isn’t Canceled

Carlos wrote, “We talk about … having one last baby, if we can,” and added, “Those conversations feel hopeful in a way I didn't think they ever would.” That is the clearest sign yet that the couple are not closing the door on another pregnancy, even after the loss that changed their family plan.

Joy Isn't Canceled: What Grief Taught Us About Pain, Peace, and Purpose is out now, and the afterword makes the book part memoir, part family status update. Alexa and Carlos married in 2014, and they already share Ocean, Kingston and Rio, so any decision to try again would affect a household that already has three children and one absence woven into it.

April 2024 loss

In April 2024, the couple revealed that Alexa’s pregnancy with their fourth child ended in a stillbirth. That pregnancy was marked by blood loss and multiple hospitalizations, which gives the new openness a very specific context: this is not a casual remark about expanding a family, but a return to a path they know can carry real medical and emotional weight.

Alexa has said Indy’s life is “so full” and that “Death has lost its sting.” She also said the loss was “a big blow,” while adding that God’s peace was “so evident and so all over our lives” afterward.

Faith and family plans

Carlos also wrote in the epilogue, “Grief changed me,” followed by, “I had to stop pretending everything was OK when it wasn't.” He said he had to learn to say what he was really thinking and feeling, and that “changed our marriage too,” which is the practical story inside the headline: grief did not just reshape what they said about Indy, it changed how they speak to each other.

Alexa put the same point more sharply when she said the loss “ignited our family” and made them “so much more intentional with each other. Walls were broken.” That is why the possibility of one more baby lands differently here than it would in a lighter celebrity update; the question is not whether they want a bigger family in the abstract, but whether they choose to reopen a chapter they once thought had closed. For now, the clearest answer is that Carlos and Alexa are talking about it out loud, and that is where the next decision begins.
