8th-minute red card swings Parma Fc Vs Bologna Fc Standings battle as Bologna win 2-1

The Parma FC vs Bologna FC standings matchup in the Emilia-Romagna Derby turned quickly on Monday, and it was the early dismissal of Abdoulaye Ndiaye that set the tone. Parma were reduced to 10 men in the eighth minute after VAR reviewed the incident and showed the Parma defender a red card for DOGSO, forcing Alberto Gilardino’s team to play nearly the entire match short-handed.

Parma had entered the derby with momentum after Gilardino celebrated his first victory on the Parma bench with a 3-0 away win at Atalanta on Monday. Bologna, meanwhile, arrived on a run of three straight wins under Raffaele Palladino. That form carried over as the visitors kept control of the match and came away with a 2-1 victory to extend their run to four straight wins.

How Bologna took control

The first goal came in the second half when Arthur Theate scored for Bologna with a diving header from six yards. That gave Bologna the breakthrough they had been pressing for against a Parma side that had spent most of the match trying to stay organized with 10 men.

Later in the second half, Riccardo Orsolini converted a penalty to double Bologna’s lead. Parma did get a response when VAR awarded a spot kick and Vincent Sierro scored from the penalty spot, but the home side could not complete the comeback.

In added time, Christian Ordonez came close to leveling the match when his shot went just over the bar. It was as close as Parma got to forcing a late equalizer in a derby that had already been shaped by the early red card.

For Bologna, the result was another sign of a team finding rhythm under Palladino. For Parma, the result was less about late chances and more about how quickly the match changed after Ndiaye’s dismissal. In a derby where both clubs had already changed coach early in the campaign, the first major turning point arrived before the game had really settled.
