UFC Fighter Conor McGregor Accepts 18-Month Ban for Missing Doping Tests

Conor McGregor has officially accepted an 18-month ban due to violations of the UFC’s anti-doping policies. This decision was confirmed by the Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD) organization.
Details of the Ban
The 37-year-old Irish fighter missed three scheduled biological sample collections over a twelve-month period starting in 2024. UFC regulations require athletes to provide precise whereabouts information to ensure they can be contacted for random testing.
Missed Testing Dates
- June 13, 2024
- September 19, 2024
- September 20, 2024
On September 20, 2024, the date of his third missed test, McGregor’s ban officially commenced. It is set to conclude on March 20, 2026, shortly before he turns 39. His ban was initially 24 months but was reduced due to his cooperation with CSAD and his injury circumstances.
McGregor’s Recent Activities
Since July 2021, when he sustained a broken leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier, McGregor has not participated in a professional bout. Recently, he claimed to have signed a contract to fight on the UFC White House card scheduled for June 14, 2026, coinciding with US President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday. However, UFC President Dana White clarified that no agreements had been finalized regarding this event.
Legal Troubles and Future Plans
In November 2024, McGregor was ordered to pay £206,000 in damages to Nikita Hand, who accused him of a sexual assault that took place in 2018. She had announced plans to sue McGregor and two others for alleged abuse of court processes.
Furthermore, last month, McGregor indicated that he would not run in the upcoming Irish presidential election, opting to focus on other pursuits as he takes a break from social media platforms.
