Chandler Moore Sues Maverick City Music, Accuses CEO of Power Abuse

Chandler Moore, co-founder of Maverick City Music, has filed a lawsuit against the group’s CEO, Norman Gyamfi. The civil fraud case was lodged in Atlanta federal court on October 1, alleging that Gyamfi misappropriated millions of dollars in royalties from Moore.

Allegations of Power Abuse by Maverick City Music CEO

The lawsuit targets Gyamfi, who transitioned from Moore’s manager to CEO of Maverick City Music in 2023. The complaint asserts that Moore placed significant trust in Gyamfi’s judgment regarding his business decisions. However, it claims that Gyamfi abused this trust.

Details of the Lawsuit

  • Date Filed: October 1, 2023
  • Primary Accusations:
    • Breach of contract
    • Forgery
    • Conversion
  • Key Allegations:
    • Gyamfi brokered the sale of Maverick City Music’s masters to The Orchard without informing Moore.
    • He allegedly forged Moore’s signature on a co-publishing agreement, redirecting songwriting royalties to Maverick City Music.
    • Moore claims Gyamfi withheld over $800,000 in royalties from him.

According to Moore, he had fulfilled his obligations under a contract signed in 2024 by writing music and completing a tour. However, Gyamfi’s actions reportedly led to substantial financial losses for Moore, who accuses him of stealing millions.

Seeking Justice

Moore’s legal representation, particularly attorney Sam Lipshie from the firm Bradley Arant, expresses commitment to recovering Moore’s rightful royalties and addressing outstanding legal issues. “Chandler has faced exploitation of his trust and talent,” stated Lipshie.

Following Moore’s announcement of his departure from Maverick City Music on October 6, fellow artist Naomi Raine also declared her exit from the group. However, she is not connected to the lawsuit.

Maverick City Music has yet to issue a public response regarding the allegations made by Moore.
