Dominion Energy Pursues Solar, Storage Projects in Virginia and North Carolina

Dominion Energy is actively seeking to enhance its renewable energy portfolio in Virginia and North Carolina. Through their annual Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Dominion Energy Virginia (DEV) and Dominion Energy North Carolina (DENC) aim to source innovative solutions for solar, wind, and energy storage projects.

Seeking Renewable Energy Solutions

The utility companies are particularly interested in proposals across five categories:

  • New photovoltaic solar generation
  • Photovoltaic solar co-located with energy storage
  • New onshore wind
  • Onshore wind co-located with energy storage
  • Stand-alone energy storage

Project Requirements

For solar initiatives, Dominion is looking for both utility-scale projects exceeding 3 megawatts (MW) and distributed projects of 3 MW or less. These distributed projects must be situated within the service territories of DEV or DENC, providing grid benefits to their customers.

The company encourages proposals for projects on previously developed sites, including former landfills and industrial areas.

Proposal Submission Process

Interested bidders must complete an Intent to Bid Form and a Confidentiality Agreement (CA). Both documents should be submitted before the deadline of January 20, 2026. Additional details regarding the RFP can be accessed through Dominion’s official platforms.

Completed forms and signed confidentiality agreements should be emailed to [email protected] by February 9, 2026.

By pursuing these solar, storage, and wind projects, Dominion Energy continues its commitment to meeting future energy demands in an environmentally sustainable manner.
