Shedeur Sanders Congratulates Dillon Gabriel on Becoming Browns’ Starting QB

Shedeur Sanders recently expressed his enthusiasm for Dillon Gabriel, who has been named the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. Sanders and Gabriel were both contenders for the starting position during the summer training camp. Ultimately, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco was selected, but after four weeks, he was benched in favor of Gabriel, a third-round draft pick.
Sanders’ Support for Gabriel
Despite being a third-string quarterback and primarily working with the scout team, Sanders felt a strong sense of excitement for Gabriel’s promotion to QB1 ahead of their match against the Minnesota Vikings. In a recent statement, he said, “Just like Dillon when he got moved up to QB1, I was like, ‘That’s lit bro. You got to make sure you handle everything the right way and just continue being him.’”
Brotherhood Among Rookies
Sanders’ support extends beyond Gabriel; he also celebrates the achievements of other rookie players on the team. He remarked, “Any time players I came in with and spent a lot of time with get moved up to have a vital role, I get extremely excited for them. I’m playing through them.” This sense of camaraderie highlights the bond among the Browns’ rookie class.

Gabriel’s Performance
In his first start against the Vikings, Gabriel faced challenges but showed promise by completing 19 of 33 passes for 190 yards and throwing two touchdowns. Despite the team loss, his performance solidified his potential as a starting quarterback.
Looking Ahead
Coach Kevin Stefanski has yet to confirm whether Sanders will serve as the backup quarterback after the trade of Flacco. Nevertheless, Sanders remains confident about his readiness. He stated, “I’m overly confident within myself. I knew when I first got here I’m ready to play. It’s up to the coaches.”
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on the Browns’ rookie class, including Sanders, to see how they contribute to their team’s success under the leadership of new starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
