‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ Star Wendy Osefo Arrested for Fraud
Dr. Wendy Osefo, a prominent figure from El-Balad’s popular series “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” along with her husband Edward Osefo, has been arrested for fraud. The Carroll County sheriff’s office confirmed that the couple was taken into custody on October 9 due to allegations of fraudulently reporting a burglary and theft.
Details of the Arrest
The Osefo couple was indicted by a grand jury on the same day as their arrest. Dr. Wendy faces a total of 15 charges. These include:
- Seven felony charges for providing false or misleading information related to fraud exceeding $300.
- Seven misdemeanor charges for similar offenses.
- One misdemeanor charge for lying to a law enforcement officer.
Edward Osefo faces a total of 18 charges, comprising nine felony and nine misdemeanor counts.
Incident Background
The charges stem from a police report filed on April 7, 2024. At that time, the couple claimed their home had been broken into while they were vacationing in Jamaica. They alleged that approximately 80 items were stolen, with a total value exceeding $200,000.
Investigation Findings
However, the investigation revealed discrepancies in their claims. Detectives discovered that the couple had returned around $20,000 worth of the items they reported stolen to various stores before the alleged burglary. Additionally, evidence showed Wendy wearing a diamond ring that she had previously declared missing.

Following their arrest, both Wendy and Edward Osefo were released the next day after posting a bond of $50,000 each. In a statement to the media, Dr. Osefo expressed her distress, stating, “My family and I are devastated and feel violated by this intrusion.” She added that despite the incident, they were grateful no one was home during the alleged burglary, emphasizing that material possessions can be replaced.
