Mariners Boost ALCS Roster with Bryan Woo, Miles Mastrobuoni

The Seattle Mariners have finalized their roster for the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the Toronto Blue Jays. Bryan Woo’s Comeback

One of the significant highlights of this roster is the return of right-handed pitcher Bryan Woo. Woo has been sidelined since experiencing pectoral tightness during a game against the Houston Astros on September 19. Although he was unable to join the ALDS roster, Mariners’ president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto indicated on Friday that Woo would likely be a part of the ALCS lineup against Toronto.

However, Woo will not be available until the series progresses closer to Game 4. This situation complicates the Mariners’ rotation as they navigate the first two games against the Blue Jays. Currently, Bryce Miller will start Game 1 on short rest, and George Kirby is expected to take the mound for Game 3 under regular conditions.

Roster Changes

The Mariners made some strategic adjustments for this series. Bryan Woo replaces rookie infielder Ben Williamson, who hasn’t played a major league game since July 30. Williamson’s previous roster spot was initially secured to provide infield depth, anticipating Josh Naylor may miss games for paternity leave. Naylor participated in all five ALDS matches and welcomed his first child as planned.

Additionally, utility player Miles Mastrobuoni joins the roster, taking the place of Luke Raley. While Raley contributed off the bench during the ALDS, Mastrobuoni offers greater versatility, having experience in multiple positions including outfield and infield roles.

With these adjustments, the Mariners look to strengthen their strategy as they compete in the ALCS against the Blue Jays.
