Ravens Release C.J. Gardner-Johnson Following Texans Game

C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s time with the Baltimore Ravens has come to an end. The safety was released on Tuesday, marking the second time he has been let go this season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the decision was described as “an amicable mutual decision” by his agent, Kevin Conner.
Ravens’ Struggles and Roster Changes
The Ravens are facing a challenging season, currently holding a record of 1-5 as they approach their bye week. Last week, they added another safety, Alohi Gilman, in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers. This move prompted the Ravens and Gardner-Johnson to reassess his role in the team’s lineup.
“After the Ravens traded for a safety, we were looking for a clearer path to play,” Conner stated. Gardner-Johnson had not participated in any games for Baltimore.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s Career Timeline
- Age: 27

- Tackles this season: 11 in three games with the Texans
Before joining the Ravens, Gardner-Johnson was released by the Texans after a brief stint that followed a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason. Controversies and Future Prospects
Gardner-Johnson’s career has been marked by various controversies, including an ejection for unsportsmanlike conduct during a game against the Washington Commanders last season. His actions have raised questions about his fit within the team dynamic.
As of now, it remains uncertain whether any teams are interested in signing him. Gardner-Johnson’s agent is hopeful that one of the 29 teams he hasn’t played for this season will reach out.
Throughout his seven-year career, Gardner-Johnson has established a name for himself but now faces a critical juncture in his professional journey. After winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles last season, he will need to find a new opportunity to showcase his talents on the field.
