MKOI Myrwn: “We Aim to Win Worlds, Ratings Won’t Stop Us”

Movistar KOI’s Journey to Worlds 2025

Movistar KOI is gearing up for the 2025 League of Legends World Championship. Despite a setback in the League of Legends EMEA Championship Grand Finals, the team is determined to represent Spain on the global stage.

Preparation for the Tournament

To facilitate better preparation, Alex “Myrwn” Pastor Villarejo, the team’s toplaner, shared insights on their journey in a recent interview. He emphasized that arriving in Beijing earlier than usual allowed the team to overcome some early challenges, including illness.

* “We were a bit sick during the first days of bootcamp,” Myrwn explained. “Now, things are pretty good. Honestly, I’m super excited for Worlds.”

### Excitement for the Swiss Stage

In discussing expectations for the tournament, Myrwn expressed confidence in the team’s readiness. He reflected on the lessons learned from previous experiences.

* “This year, we are way more ready for Worlds,” he stated. “We aim to perform well in the Swiss Stage. Whoever we face from Pool 2, we have a great shot at winning.”

Myrwn highlighted the importance of team synergy and improvement. He noted the previous year’s difficulties, where the squad struggled significantly.

* “Last year, we didn’t win a single game in scrims. This time, our attitude has improved,” he added.

### Competing at the Global Level

When asked about competition, Myrwn mentioned several strong teams. He is confident in the team’s ability to compete for a spot in the Bracket Stage.

* “Personally, I put our team going 3-1 in my Pick’ems because we can never finish cleanly,” he said.

He also acknowledged the challenging nature of facing Asian teams, often regarded as the strongest in the competition.

* “I’ve always thought that the LCK was better,” he remarked. “But I think some LPL teams have stepped up. The competition is fierce.”

### Player Development and Champion Pool

Myrwn reflected on his personal progress, comparing his performance against Asian toplaners to previous years. He feels more capable and prepared than before.

* “I’ve improved a lot as a player,” he noted. “The whole toplane pool at Worlds is pretty good, and I’m excited to play against them.”

Discussing the current meta, Myrwn acknowledged that while some champions have gained strength, the game remains similar to before.

* “Many champions still haven’t been explored,” he said. “You can expect some surprises at Worlds.”

### A Message to Fans and Doubters

Myrwn wrapped up the conversation with a message for both fans and skeptics.

* “I don’t care what people rate us in tier lists,” he asserted. “We have a shot at winning Worlds, and I will give my all.”

He encouraged fans to support Movistar KOI as they embark on this ambitious journey.

* “Jump into our boat—before it’s too late!”
