Rutgers Student Critically Injured in Fraternity Hazing Investigation

The student was discovered unresponsive near the flagship campus of Rutgers in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Police responded to a disconnected 911 call shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Fraternity Response and Consequences
As a result of the incident, Rutgers University mandated that the fraternity cease all operations. The fraternity is under social probation until November 3 and organizational disciplinary probation lasting until May 18.
Statement from Alpha Sigma Phi
Gordy Heminger, the president and CEO of Alpha Sigma Phi, announced that the fraternity has suspended its Rutgers chapter and is investigating the hazing allegations. He stated, “If it is determined that the undergraduate members hazed that evening, the chapter will be closed.”
