The 48th annual Detroit Free Press Marathon is set to take place on the weekend of October 17-19, 2025. This international event will feature thousands of runners participating in various races, including full and half marathons, relays, and a 5K, along with kids’ races.

The marathon will traverse both Detroit and Windsor, featuring routes that cross the Ambassador Bridge and return through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. The event will kick off with a Health & Fitness Expo at Huntington Place on the Friday and Saturday leading up to the races.

Detroit Marathon 2025: Course Maps and Road Closures
Participants and spectators should be aware of road closures and restrictions occurring on Sunday, October 19, starting at 4 a.m. to accommodate the marathon events.
Road Closures
- Monroe Street: Closed from Randolph Street to the I-375 Service Drive.
- Limited access on northbound streets off Jefferson Avenue north of St. Aubin Street.
- Grand River (southbound): Closed at Cass Avenue.
- Woodward Avenue (southbound): Closed south of Adelaide Street.
- Lafayette Street (westbound): Closed at Iroquois Avenue.
- Fort Street (eastbound) in Corktown: Closed at Grand Boulevard.
- Lodge Freeway (southbound): Closed after Howard Street.
- M-10 South: Closed at Howard Street.
Additionally, the Ambassador Bridge will have restricted traffic, and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will close from 6:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on the day of the marathon. Drivers are advised to plan accordingly and park outside the course perimeter to avoid inconvenience.
