Evans Set to Play; Egbuka’s Outlook Positive

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is anticipated to play in the upcoming game against the Detroit Lions on Monday night. Emeka Egbuka also has a positive outlook for his participation, as both players are game-time decisions according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Mike Evans: Key Player for the Buccaneers

Mike Evans, the Buccaneers’ all-time leading scorer, returned to practice this week after missing three games due to a hamstring strain, sustained in Week 3 against the New York Jets. After a practice on Thursday and a rest day on Friday, Evans participated again on Saturday.

“He draws a double-team,” Bowles explained. “This helps the run game by keeping a safety and another corner out of the box. He is our go-to guy when healthy, and every aspect of his game poses challenges for opponents.”

Emeka Egbuka’s Condition

Emeka Egbuka practiced in a limited capacity on Saturday. He had missed the previous two practice sessions due to a hamstring strain suffered during Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. Although he missed the second half of that game, an MRI revealed a mild strain.

Bowles noted, “It’s possible he will play, but it’s not definite. His status will be assessed right up until game time.” If Egbuka cannot participate against the Lions, he is expected to have a chance to play in the following week against the New Orleans Saints.

Injuries Impacting the Buccaneers

Several players will be unavailable for the game. Running back Bucky Irving is ruled out due to a foot sprain and a shoulder subluxation. Wide receiver Chris Godwin has been sidelined with a fibula injury. Additionally, running back Josh Williams is out with a concussion, and right guard Luke Haggard is also unavailable because of a shoulder injury.

Current Standings

The Buccaneers improved their record to 5-1 after a 30-19 victory against the 49ers, placing them first in the NFC standings. In contrast, the Lions fell to 4-2 after losing 30-17 to the Kansas City Chiefs, putting them second in the NFC North.
