Netflix Orders ‘Black Hole’ Series, Inspired by Popular Comic

Netflix has secured a new series entitled Black Hole, inspired by Charles Burns’ acclaimed graphic novels. This deal comes amid fierce competition from various bidders, resulting in a straight-to-series order. The project is a collaboration between Netflix and New Regency, which will co-produce the series alongside other notable partners.

Details of the Black Hole Series

Filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun, known for her work on I Saw the TV Glow, is the creative force behind Black Hole. She is not only responsible for writing the series but will also take on directing duties. The show features a compelling narrative centered on a haunted small town called Roosevelt.

Plot Overview

The premise revolves around a chilling myth: in Roosevelt, children who engage in sexual activity at a young age may contract a virus known as the “bug.” This illness transforms them into monstrous beings derived from their deepest fears. The story follows a character named Chris, who finds herself infected after a reckless night as her senior year begins. Cast into the woods with other infected individuals, she soon faces an even graver danger: a serial killer targeting those who have been infected.
