Northwest London Crash Claims Beloved Doctor; Colleagues Mourn ‘Gentle Giant’
Dr. Agron Alija, a valued family physician and emergency doctor in London, is being mourned after a tragic car accident. He was 62 years old and succumbed to injuries sustained in a head-on collision on Fanshawe Park Road on October 21, 2025. The crash, occurring around 8:25 a.m., also left another driver seriously hurt. An investigation by local police is currently underway.
Remembering a ‘Gentle Giant’
Colleagues at Active Care Medical Centre, where Dr. Alija practiced, expressed their sorrow in a social media post. They described him as a “gentle giant” whose genuine compassion touched many lives in the community.

A Lifelong Commitment to Medicine
Dr. Alija received his medical certification in Ontario in 2009 after immigrating from Kosovo in 1999. He initially worked in Prishtina, and during the Kosovo War, he contributed as a translator with the Kosovo Diplomatic Observer Mission.

- Alija and his family sought refuge in Macedonia during the conflict.
After arriving in Canada, the family settled in Hamilton, where Alija wrote a column for the Hamilton Spectator. He was also involved with the Albanian community in Canada, earning respect and admiration for his professional dedication.
Condolences and Legacy
The London chapter of the Albanian Canadian Society issued a heartfelt statement, mourning the loss of a beloved community member. They acknowledged Dr. Alija’s family, including his daughter, who is also a physician.
A funeral service will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery. The visitation is set for Monday from noon to 2 p.m., followed by burial at 2 p.m.
