PM Modi Shares Kranti Prakash Jha’s Chhath Song Sung by Sharda Sinha

Actor Kranti Prakash Jha has expressed his excitement as this year’s Chhath Puja feels “extra special” following the sharing of the song “Pahile Pahil Chhathi Maiya” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This song, originally released in 2016, features Jha and was sung by the late Sharda Sinha.

Significance of Sharda Sinha and the Tribute

Kranti conveyed his gratitude, stating that it is humbling for someone of the Prime Minister’s stature to acknowledge their cultural traditions, or “sanskriti and parampara.” He views Modi’s recognition as a tribute to Sharda Sinha, remarking, “You can’t think of Chhath without her.” Her voice remains a cherished part of the festival despite her absence.

Emotional Connection with the Song

The actor, known for his roles in “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story” and the OTT series “Bindiya Ke Bahubali,” shared how the song resonates emotionally with various audiences. He mentioned receiving messages from fans worldwide, including the US and Europe, who returned home to celebrate Chhath after watching the song. “The song speaks about a migrant returning to his roots,” Jha explained, emphasizing its universal appeal.

The Festival and Its Rituals

For Kranti, celebrating Chhath in his hometown of Begusarai is an essential tradition. He elaborated on the rituals: “Wearing a dhoti-kurta is mandatory. I attend the ghat for the puja, and the following day, we receive kheer ka prasad.” He highlighted the strength of the women who observe the fasting rituals, calling it “the mother of all pujas.”

A Special Culinary Offering

  • Thekua: A traditional offering that Jha holds dear.
  • He recalls that his grandmother made the best thekua, now continued by his mother and aunt.

Kranti identified himself as a Maitha, fluent in Maithili, which keeps him connected to his roots. Despite being in the glamour industry, he values maintaining his cultural identity. He remarked, “It’s vital to keep the andar ka glamour intact.”

Unity and Nature in Chhath Puja

Concluding his thoughts, Jha emphasized that Chhath Puja is about worshipping and celebrating nature, with blessings from Chhath Maiya reaching everyone. He appreciates the festival’s role as a great equalizer, where people from all backgrounds come together to celebrate.
