As he transitions to the 2025 Paris Masters, which runs from October 27 to November 2 at the La Défense Arena, Shelton is seeded fifth. He is set to face Flavio Cobolli in the second round. Cobolli reached this stage by defeating Tomáš Macháč in his opening match.
Shelton and Cobolli have a competitive history, each winning two out of their four previous encounters. Their latest meeting occurred during the 2025 Canadian Open, where Shelton edged out with a tight victory, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(1).
