Gardner expressed gratitude for the friendship she and Nwodim built during their time on the show. She noted that despite the pressures and competitive nature of SNL, their relationship never suffered due to personal egos. “I’m so honored that we worked so hard there… we have egos, we want things for ourselves,” Gardner mentioned.

Nwodim added that it can be challenging for the cast to feel a sense of collective success. She remarked on SNL being “not the easiest place to work,” yet praised Gardner for her positivity in a competitive environment. “If you can leave and still be remarkably lovely, I think you succeeded,” Nwodim stated.

Heidi Gardner announced her exit from SNL on August 28 after eight seasons. Ego Nwodim followed suit, leaving the show on September 12 after her seventh season. This shift marked a significant change in the SNL cast lineup.
